💛 Is Yellow Tint a Problem When Dyeing Your Hair with Bright Colors?
We just received an owl-delivered message!
“Hello, Dr. Headshot! I want to dye my hair in a bright color, but after bleaching, there’s still a yellow tint. Is that bad?”
Hmm… great question! Let’s look into it 🧐

So… is yellow tint really that bad?
Well, “bad” is always relative. It depends on how strong the yellow tint is and which color you want to use.
💡 For pastel tones, your hair must be white blonde
That means:
❌ No yellow
❌ No orange
❌ No gold
Otherwise, pastel colors won’t show up properly or will shift in tone.
✨ For medium-intensity shades
A slight yellow tint might still be okay, depending on the color.
Some shades can cover yellow, but the color might not turn out as bright or vivid.
🌑 For dark shades
Honestly? The yellow doesn’t matter.
These colors are strong enough to cover it, and it won’t affect the result.
💡 In every Headshot product description, we mention how light your base hair should be for best results.
General rule:
The lighter your hair → the brighter the result!
⚠️ Yellow can change the color outcome
This is important: a yellow undertone can actually change how the final color looks.
For example, if you apply a blue dye on hair with yellow tint → the result may turn out green.
That’s why we always recommend a strand test first! 💯
